SHUKR Islamic Clothing opened its newest store in the new Murjan Mall in Amman this weekend

Shukr Islamic Clothing, a UK based company founded in 2001, is planning to continue its global expansion by its opening of a second store in the new Murjan Mall in Amman.

The company believes Jordan is an ideal place to focus its first phase of expansion due to the unique environment. Says managing partner Anas Sillwood, “Jordan is the perfect Islamic market – a comfortable blend of modern style and tradition.”

While the competition for Islamic Clothing in Amman is strong, SHUKR is able to differentiate itself by featuring distinct seasonal collections that meet both Islamic standards and Western style and sensibilities.

The company was encouraged to open in the new Murjan Mall location in part to the mall’s involvement with Amman’s Orphans Fund Development Foundation. The foundation, which is a non-profit entity of the Jordanian Government, owns the land where Murjan Mall is being built. According to its website, the foundation’s main task is, “receiving orphans’ assets as transferred from the Sharia courts and investing and developing them in a legitimate manner.” SHUKR is not the only Islamic clothing Company to recognize growth recently. Predicted to be the next big growth sector in global fashion, the Islamic fashion market has enormous potential.

According to the Global Islamic Economy Report, Muslims spent £182 billion in 2013 on clothing and footwear. That number is expected to reach at least £333 billion by 2019.

Over the years, SHUKR has attracted a loyal customer base of people all around the world searching for modest, yet stylish and modern clothing, including long sleeve shirts, long dresses, long skirts, and wide leg jeans—which can be quite difficult to find in mainstream clothing stores in Jordan and in the West.

SHUKR’s largest markets are in the US and UK and are served by regional websites. “We’re very proud to be an Islamic clothing provider, and it is our hope that our customers will be proud to be dressed Islamically as well” says Sillwood. Launched in 2001, SHUKR was the first company to provide contemporary, modest clothing that meets the needs of Muslims and non-Muslims living in the West and all over the world.

SHUKR is proud to be able to serve people of all religions who find that their faith encourages them to dress modestly, without having to sacrifice style and beauty.
